All papers are peer reviewed. All humanoid session papers will be published in the June 2009 issue of International Journal of Humanoid Robotics. Selected papers will be published in a special issue of Robotics and Autonomous Systems.

The 5th International Conference on Computational Intelligence, Robotics and Autonomous Systems (CIRAS 2008) took place June 19 - 21 in Linz, Austria.

The first conference of the CIRAS was held in 2001 in Singapore and, since that time, has become a respected platform for the exchange of scientific ideas and research results. Whereas the previous conferences have had a strong focus on the Asian region, CIRAS 2008 was now for the first time held in Europe aimed at bringing together researchers from all over the world to discuss developments in key technologies.

Intelligence in automation systems is increasingly becoming a key and important technology to be harnessed for enhancing productivity and economic returns. CIRAS will focus on research directions that are broadly covered by the fields Computational Intelligence (CI), Robotics and Autonomous Systems.
